Gulshaniy
Biography
Gulshaniy was one of the classical poets of the Kokand literary circle. Very little historical evidence about him survives, and only a general picture can be drawn from the tazkiras and manuscripts that are available. A man of religious learning, Gulshaniy served as imam of one of the mosques in the villages around Kokand. Alongside his duties as imam he wrote poetry, and the sources record that his ghazals were chiefly religious-ethical and Sufi in spirit. Neither his divan nor any separate work has come down to us complete. His dates of birth and death, and even the village where he served as imam, are nowhere stated precisely, so scholars have had to reconstruct his life from the brief notices found in tazkiras.

Qomating ko'rgan kishi sarvi xiromon istamas, Tomsa kim, shahdi labing la'li Badaxshon istamas. Kimki, mushtoqi jamolingdur dilu jonim bilan, Hurga boqmas, vale jannatda rizvon istamas.
