Akhund Qozi Samiy (Rosix)
Biography
Akhund Qozi Samiy, who signed his work with the pen name Rosix, was an accomplished poet, madrasa teacher and eminent scholar of Islamic law, active in the Kokand literary circle in the late 18th and the first half of the 19th century. Under the Kokand Khanate he held a high position in matters of learning and sharia, serving as a qozi and as a mudarris in a madrasa. He continued the traditions of Mavlono Lutfiy, Alisher Navoiy and Fuzuli. Sufi meanings, moral and philosophical reflection, and the themes of love and fidelity dominate his ghazals and qasidas. With his profound philosophical and amatory ghazals in the aruz metres he left a distinctive mark among the poets of the Kokand school.

О чём запело бы сердце, если бы та луна не была смятенно-прекрасна? Чем была бы драгоценна жемчужина, если бы нутро её не было кровью? О сердце, терпи в печали: довольно и боли разлуки — какой влюблённый обрёл свидание, не спалив себе груди? Расих, гореть — вот обычай влюблённого в любви: среди влюблённых тот, кто не горел, и живым не считается.
Ne navo qilg'ay ko'ngil, ul oy parishon bo'lmasa, Ne baho topg'ay guhar, gar bag'ri qon bo'lmasa. Ey ko'ngil, sabr et g'amida, bas erur dardi firoq, Qaysi oshiq topdi vasl, gar bag'ri biryon bo'lmasa. Rosixo, kuymak erur oshiqqa odat ishqida, Kuymagan oshiq aro ham bo'libon jon bo'lmasa.
