Mushtoq (Mulla Muhammad Amin)
Biography
Mushtoq — his given name was Mulla Muhammad Amin — was one of the gifted poets who lived in Kokand in the 19th century. He was an active member of the Kokand literary circle, a contemporary of such masters as Feruz, Muqimiy and Furqat, and was held in esteem by them. Mushtoq wrote chiefly in the ghazal and the muhammas. Love, fidelity, devotion and human feeling are drawn in his verse with depth and sincerity; his manner is plain, melodious and faithful to the classical traditions of the aruz. The greater part of his legacy has come down in bayaz anthologies of the late 19th century.

Ko'ngul oldi mening ul sho'xi jononim qilur nozlar, Ne g'am gar qilsa oshiq xastasina mehr ila rozlar. Tamanno aylaram diydorini har dam ko'ray deb men, Firoqida chekib har tun fido aylay bu ovozlar. Mushtoq, umiding uzma ul pariro'y vaslidan hargiz, Karashma birla kelgay oqibat ul sarvi sarfarozlar.
